In the years following World War 2, various Russian warlords rose in the power vacuum created by the fall of the USSR. The Americans soon signed an armistice and the war ended. In 1944, a German plane launched from a Japanese carrier conducted a nuclear strike on Pearl Harbor, the first of its kind in history. England had been conquered within a year, and Europe was completely under Nazi control. Germany launched Operation Sea Lion now that the Wehrmacht and full strength of the Luftwaffe could be assigned to British airspace. Japan also wins the Battle of Midway and continues to see victory after victory in the Pacific. The disorganized and demoralized Red Army, who were only familiar with suppressing peasant uprisings, was easily destroyed and the nation collapsed, with Germany taking all the land up to the Urals and dividing it into several Reichskommisariats: Ostland, Ukraine, Moskowien, and Kaukasus.Īround this time, the Empire of Japan attacked the Americans in Pearl Harbor, bringing the US into the war. The next year, German forces launched Operation Barbarossa and invaded the Soviet Union.
German forces successfully surrounded and destroyed the British Army at Dunkirk and forced the French to surrender.Īfter the fall of France, Italy joined the war, and the British fleet was trapped in the Mediterranean, when German Paratroopers seized Gibraltar and the Italians overran Egypt, capturing the Suez and cutting off the British supply lines to Africa. Denmark and Norway were easily defeated in 1940, and the German army turned west, invading Belgium and the Netherlands. Germany quickly overran the Polish and turned north. In this timeline, World War 2 goes impossibly right for the Axis. Kennedy won the election instead, and while he recognized the need for change, he also preached isolationism. For this, he lost decisively to Al Smith and Herbert Hoover retained his position. He was repeatedly compared to Nikolai Bukarhin, whose similar reforms had disastrous results. Roosevelt proposed the New Deal to stave off the Great Depression, just like in OTL. Meanwhile in the United States, Franklin D. Following the end of the Five Year Plan, a new one was drafted in 1937 to see the rapid development of Soviet heavy industry. Bukarin’s policies would later turn out to have disastrous consequences for the USSR‘s rapid industrialization period.
In this timeline, instead of Stalin becoming the leader of the Soviet Union, Nikolai Bukarhin wins the election, while Stalin was killed in an industrial accident.
